Pics & Vids 2014-16

At LMSalk, we are family.  God’s family.  Whether you are a camper, volunteer, or homeowner we are all children of God and blessed with the tie that binds us, in Christ Jesus.  We laugh as we play, worship as we pray, cry as we heal, love as we serve, and draw together as we reach out.  Come be a part of something very special!

2016

We journeyed Out of the Water and experienced its transformative power!

Water has the great power to destroy and renew, to create fear and build trust, and to quench a thirst and cleanse a soul.  God promises us:  "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you."--Isaiah 43:2

We are blessed in our 6th year:

  • We served 3 homeowners in the Irmo and Columbia communities!

  • 30 campers battled oppressive temperatures to serve our homeowners repairing roofs, flooring, plumbing, ceilings, cabinetry, bathrooms, kitchens, painting, landscaping, appliances, furniture, while connecting on a heart level with our homeowners to make a spiritual impact.

  • Continued faithful and generous community volunteers provided:  Meals -  Riverland Hills Baptist, Brookland Baptist Foundation, Salem UMC, Chapin UMC, Union UMC – Breakfast Buddies, Joy Class, John Rowland Class, Seekers Class, New Life Class/Men in the Mirror, Union Youth, Catholic Friends, Caskey Family; Lodging – Union UMC; Showers – Irmo Middle School; Site Snacks, Hospitality Kits, First Aid Kits, Registration help, Financial oversight, Medical support, Pillow Agape, Photography, Tech Support, Praise Band, Setup/Cleanup help, and more!

  • Overwhelming support came in the form of monetary and material donations from Parents of campers, Union members, New Life Silent Auction, Seekers Class, Chick-fil-a Ballentine, Wesley Chapel UMC, Chapin UMC, Bethel UMC, Red Bank UMC, Surfside UMC and more!

  • God’s words were shared through powerful evening devotions, site devotions, uplifting prayer, inspiring music, meaningful foot washings, remembering and/or anticipation of our baptisms, renewing communion, and more!

  • And through all of this, we had FUN!  Through corn hole, volleyball, basketball, Spike ball, 9-square, Bowling, lake day, Talent Show, and more, we shared in the laughter and fellowship as family members of LMSalk!

2015

LMSalk had a Party in 2015!

And we ALL brought our Spiritual GIFTS!

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;  if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;  if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.--Romans 12:6-8

Lake Murray Camp had a lot to celebrate in 2015:

  • This was our 5th year of serving our homeowners in the Irmo and Chapin communities!

  • 51 campers selflessly dedicated a week out of their summers to serve 4 homeowners repairing roofs, flooring, plumbing, ceilings, cabinetry, bathrooms, kitchens, securing porches, painting, landscaping, providing A/C units, appliances, furniture, hope, love, and so much more.

  • Faithful and generous volunteers providing:  Meals -  Riverland Hills Baptist, Brookland Baptist Foundation, Salem UMC, Chapin UMC, Union UMC – Breakfast Buddies, Joy Class, John Rowland Class, Seekers Class, New Life Class/Men in the Mirror, Union Youth, Catholic Friends, Caskey Family; Lodging – Union UMC; Showers – Irmo Middle School; Site Snacks, Hospitality Kits, First Aid Kits, Registration help, Financial oversight, Medical support, Pillow Agape, Photography, Tech Support, Praise Band, Setup/Cleanup help, and more!

  • Generous monetary and material donations from Parents of campers, Union members, New Life Silent Auction, Pathfinders Class, Seekers Class, Richard Murphy Plumbing, Richland County Waste, Wendy’s, Wesley Chapel UMC, Concord UMC, Buncombe St. UMC, Chapin UMC, Bethel UMC, Surfside UMC and more!

2014

We are Living Out the Legacy!

“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example,

that you should follow in His steps.” – 1 Peter 2:21

This year’s camp was dedicated to the memories of camp leader, Joey Pellicci, and camper, Taylor Gainey, who both walked with Jesus on this earth and are now in His eternal presence in heaven.

Sixty five campers came together from across South Carolina to live Christ’s legacy by serving 5 homeowners in the Irmo area, repairing roofs, flooring, plumbing, installing shower heads, French drains, kitchen cabinets and appliances, painting, and so muchmore.

We are grateful for the TREMENDOUS support from volunteers and donor from Union UMC, Salem UMC, Chapin UMC, Buncombe St. UMC, St. Matthews/Ashland/Concord UMC Circuit, Wesley Chapel UMC, St. Paul UMC in Ninety Six, SC, Riverland Hills Baptist, Brookland Baptist Foundation, Catholic Friends, Caskey Family, Wendy’s, Richland County Waste Dept., Richard Murphy Plumbing, and Irmo Middle School.

Powerful devotional speakers led us in worship each night, including footwashing and communion services, along with uplifting music by Union’s Praise Band and LMSalk’s Youth Praise Team.  Recreational time included a week long site competition inspired by the Hunger Games with volleyball tournament, lake day games, and Talent show.

We learned to love, serve, be humble, forgive, heal, and have faith like Jesus.  We are now ready to take our own legacies out into the world to make a difference for Christ!  We give it all up to HIM!
